FS: 1987 VW Jetta GLi 16v (Tornado Red, 183k mi, located in MA on RI border) + Extras, $1500/Bo

Hey Everyone,

It's going to kill me to part with this car, but with our first baby on the way, I'm afraid
I just don't have the time & room for it anymore and I've got to let it go.

I'm selling my 1987 Tornado Red Wolfsburg VW Jetta GLi 1.8L 16v (PL Engine) - it's
been my daily driver (almost exclusively highway) for the last 72,000 miles up until July
this year, and has given me very few issues the entire time. I bought the car in 2005 with
roughly 111k miles on it, and it currently has 183,852 on it.

As a note, I took the car off the road because I couldn't get a stock (pre-bent steel) fuel
line which cracked on me when replacing the fuel filter (and I decided to spring on a new
Golf TDI). Since then however, I've been able to acquire a CIS fuel line repair kit to
repair the line, so the car runs just like it always has.

*New Bosch Distributor, 2009

flange)
*New Bosch O2 Sensor, 2010
*New Heater Core, 2011

*New (Rebuilt) Alternator, 2008
*Recaro interior is in good shape and both power seats work just fine, however it does have
some typical wear on the leather bolsters (but no awful rips - i.e. you can't see the
stuffing in the seats)
*Car's inspection sticker just expired in October 2011 (I've had it off the road since July)
*Title is clean

////////The Bad Stuff:
*16v Grille in good condition, but of course has a few broken clips
*While there's no major rot, I've repaired a few rust spots on the car (driver's side door
handle, front fender, Fuel tank door, and at the rear below the trunk lid)
*The Borbet wheels, while they balance nicely, do have some scrapes on their silver paint &
minor curb rash
*Tires have less than 50% tread on them
*Stock Exhaust Downpipe is intact, but does sport a hole
*Rear passenger door opening mechanism has slipped (common problem) and door currently
doesn't open - pretty easy to fix, but I haven't had time
*Front bumper cover has been chipped at the corner
*Driver's side headlight has a bullseye in the lower corner (presumably from road debris,
hard to notice and has no effect on lighting)
*Exhaust flange could use replacing (one of the bolt holes is beginning to split - $10 fix
but again, haven't had time)
*Though there are no visible cracks and no visible wear, it's probably due for a timing belt
*Car is complete and drivable as-is, but could use some TLC too.

////////Extras:
Having been a MkII fan for a long time, I've collected some stuff over
the years and am letting them go with the car too (since they are MkII parts):

*4-button (original, early 16v) Steering Wheel
*Pair of stock MkII Jetta tail lenses in excellent condition
*Spare Bosch CIS-e Fuel Distributor
*8v Distributor cap + wires
*16v GTI Instrument Cluster
*16v Brake Distributor

////////Asking Price:
I'm asking $1500, but I won't turn down any reasonable offer either - like I said I've got
to let go of her.

Please feel free to post with questions, pic requests, or to let me know you've sent a pm -
I'll do my best to respond to everything I get.

Thanks for your interest everyone!
